Packing for +1 : What to bring for baby

Packing for +1 : What to bring for baby

I am a total self proclaimed list maker. This has now completely had to change when packing for a little one. Here are some helpful things that didn't cross my mind at first and may not have crossed yours either.

Cleaning supplies!

Maybe this is a duh for others, but it was not intuitive to me. For bottles (this is only for those who are using bottles of course): Be sure to pack you a bottle brush. I totally almost overlooked this for our first trip. Then I just buy dish soap from a local grocery store and paper towels on which to dry everything. By everything I mean bottles and pacifiers, and possibly toys that end up on the ground/floor and can be cleaned with soap and water.

To cut down on number of baby clothes and bibs that we pack, I buy laundry detergent for the hotel room. That way at night I can wash her clothes and hang them to dry. (Over the sink, on the radiator, on hooks. Wherever they can hang, there they go!) Easy to do and no washing machine necessary.

Baby's favorite things

Babies thrive on routine and familiarity. We make sure to always bring all of the things that she associates with sleep to help her adapt to her new environment. For us this includes: sleep sack, white noise machine, and her baby books.

Medicine

Your baby may not be sick now, but if he/she gets sick in the middle of your trip (as ours did in Prague) it may be handy to already have her medicines + a thermometer with you. We learned our lesson for this after our first trip. Always be sure to check with our doctor what is safe for baby to take and then pack that. Finding medicine in a foreign country with a sick baby is no fun!

Those are some of the tricks that I've learned. For a general packing list, see below! Hope this helps. Packing for 3 just means adapting. #Havebabystilltravel :)
