So for our last few days in Ireland we took a bus up to Galway. That was to be our point of departure to head to the Aran Islands. The bus trip was pretty uneventful and we made it to our B&B with no issues. That night we went into Galway proper and ended up at some weird amateur night at a place called The Cellar.
On our way back to the B&B we took a cab. A very strange cab. The guy was watching a video on his Iphone about Hitler and when he learned that we were from the US, he spent the whole ride talking about Sandyhook and how it's a complete conspiracy. It was a very, very akward ride. Lee was riding up front so I got to sit in the back and pretend not to exist. Akward.
The next morning at breakfast we met a super nice couple from Canada who had rented a car and offered to take us to the ferry since they were going there themselves. We ended up spending our last two days with them. The people you meet on vacation! :)
The ferry ride was probably the worst I've ever taken. No fault to the ferry company. It was just very rough waters. I wasn't the only one who got sick. But after 45 minutes we made it safely across. We rented some bikes and went about exploring the island.
All in all a beautiful trip!
The next day we spent it, again, exploring with our new Canadian friends. We took a car ride and saw views from the Sky Road, did a bit of hiking at Connemara National Park, and made a stop at the beautiful Kylemore Abbey.
That night we took a bus back to Cork to prepare for our very early morning flight home. Saying goodbye to Ireland was not easy. However, I'm sure that we'll return.
